This wine is a unique blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Gerwurztraminer, and Semillion. This is a very refreshing wine, crisp but with a nice mouth feel. The Gerwurztraminer gives the wine some interesting characteristics. Continue reading

Bargain Wine Picks of the Week – May 23

This will be the first time I am in agreement with Wilfred Wong on scoring a wine. I usually am much more conservative than he is in allotting points to a BevMo wine. But on this crisp and flavorful Montgras Chardonnay I am in total agreement with Wilfred Wong’s 88-point assessment. Continue reading

Father’s Day Wine plus a cool gift idea

It is not too early to start planning for Father’s Day for the wine-loving Dad. It might be the only time of the year where Dad gets to enjoy the biggest, baddest, juiciest BBQ steak possible. You need to pick the right wine to go with this meal and nothing goes better with a juicy steak than a good Cabernet Sauvignon. Continue reading

This wine is delightful with nice melon flavors and good acidity. The wine has a solid mouth feel and the flavors linger in the mouth. Drink it as an aperitif or with seafood like grilled shrimp, fried calamari, etc. 88 Points Continue reading

This is great timing for me because next week I am the host for our bimonthly meeting of our Vintage Wine Tasting Club and we are tasting six different Spanish Tempranillo wines priced under $20. Our Bargain Wine Picks of the Week – May 2, 2011

The list price for this wine is $28 but Costco has it for $17.99, K&L Wines for $19.99. I would love to taste this wine again one year from now, I think the tannins will smooth and the wine will even be more lovelier than it is today. I love the cassis flavor in this wine. The Wine Enthusiast gives it an amazingly high rating of 94 points. I will go with 89 points. Continue reading
