Two Wine Deals
Vintage Wine Tasting Club member Mike B, who without a doubt is the best at smelling out a wine bargain, brings you this “Bargain Wine Alert.” Mike has a sixth sense when it comes to finding wine bargains and this one is a perfect example. This terrific value won’t last long. If you live in San Francisco, this wine bargain is for you.
The wine is the 5 Mile Bridge 2006 Zinfandel. It is made from grapes from the
sustainably-farmed Margarita Vineyards in Paso Robles. The wine is selling for $8 and its originally-suggested retail price was $18. It appears from all sources that the 5 Mile Bridge Winery is out of business. Well, they certainly did a good job with this Zinfandel. The flavors are rich with some spice but not a big over-the-top Zinfandel. This 2006 is drinking beautifully now. Mike brought the wine over to an impromptu gathering of a few Vintage Wine Club members. We tasted and agreed the wine is a steal at this price. The wine easily drinks like an $18 Zinfandel.
The wine was discovered by Mike at the Good Life Grocery store at 448 Cortland Avenue in the Bernal Heights district of San Francisco. As of Wednesday, the store had about four cases of this wine remaining after a few Vintage members bought 3 cases. If you are in the area, stop by and try a bottle.
Costco Wine Sale
Now through April 23, Costco is having a wine sale, slashing prices off a number of selected wines. The two that look good to me are these:
Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon is $3.50 off their regular price, bringing the wine down to $13.59 a bottle. Montes is one of Chile’s best wineries and this is a dandy sale price.
The second wine is the Wild Horse Pinot Noir from the Central Valley at $3.00 off or $9.99 per bottle. There is no limit on how many you can buy of any of these sale wines.

Run fast as the wine is at Grocery Outlet for the low price of $4.00 a bottle. It is very well made Zin.
