Santa Cruz Mountains - Passport Day
The next one is coming up on January 16th, 2010. Are you a member of the SCMWA? Will you be going to any of the participating SCM wineries?
I've been to a few of these in the past. Bruce, my wine drinking buddy and father-in-law, and I each bought a bottle of the 2005 Ridge Monte Bello at the passport event in July 2009. If you plan on attending my suggestion is to do your homework. Pick out 3-4 participating wineries ahead of time and map out your route. Plan on getting to the popular or only open once a year wineries early as the road and tasting room traffic can be frustrating.
Here is an excerpt from the SCMWA website...
"Some of our wineries are not open to the public except on Passport days and many pour special wines or barrel samples on these days. A lot of these wines are simply not available anywhere else..."
If you decide to go please let me know which wineries you visited and what you thought of the experience.
