This has been a fun week for outdoor activity and nothing better fits this lifestyle than a crisp and refreshing wine. We have a good one to recommend this week while toasting the baseball playoffs.
Long Meadow Ranch 2011 Sauvignon Blanc – $13.99 at Costco
This Sauvignon Blanc wine has a beautiful array of floral and citrus characteristics and balanced acidity. It is clean and refreshing. The thing I like most about this wine is the finish. After you swallow the wine, the taste and aroma take on another layer of enjoyment that is a delight. Long Meadow Ranch is a winery in the Napa Valley that is family owned and practices sustainable farming. This Sauvignon Blanc is from the Rutherford AVA. On the Long Meadow Ranch Website this wine is selling for $20. I picked up this wine at the South San Francisco Costco, and at $13.99 it is a great price for such an enjoyable wine. I go with 89 Points.
Wine Enthusiast 100 Best Buys for 2012
I always like to see which wines the big wine magazines pick for their top 100 wines. I use them as a guide and search through the list, sorting out the wines I would like to try if I see them on the wine shelf. The one nice thing about the Wine Enthusiast is that you don’t have to purchase the magazine, because you can find their Top 100 Best Buys on their Website for free. Unlike the Wine Spectator, you do not have to pay an annual fee to access their wine articles and information. Check out the list and use your wine skills to pick out the wine you think worthy of a taste.
