We have enjoyed the 2006 Pascual Toso wine since it first appeared in Costco a couple of years ago. The 2007 was a disappointment compared to the 06, but the 08 is our estimation is equal to the 2006. This is a great Malbec bargain wine. It truly shows the Malbec character of an acidic, flavorful wine that is ready to drink and enjoy. I love this wine. You can have it with a tomato-based pasta, chicken, or any red meat. To me it is a perfect “go to wine” at an amazing bargain price.
Since I try a many wines in the bargain price range I don’t buy too many bottles of a “great find.” But this wine for me is case worthy. Now I have to say that a lot of my very good wine tasting friends are not fans of Malbec. It is not robust enough for them so they tend to “pooh-pooh” my fondness for Malbec, but I suggest that you buy a couple of bottles and try them with various foods. You will soon learn to love the Malbec style of wine.
Oh, did I forget to tell you about how much this wine costs? I have seen it as low as $8.99 at Costco and elsewhere for as high as $12.99. A comment on the K&L Wines website says that this wine is the best selling wine in store history. Wow! Too bad, though, last time I checked they were out of this wine. My Costco in Foster City has plenty.
