OK, I scrwed up !!! I bought an excellent '06 Dry Creek Syrah for $7 at a large grocery store on Cortland St. They almost always have some form of closeout as part of their wine program. The name of the Syrah is: Les Caves Roties de Pente, which was some DBA for a bottler or winery. What you want to know is that the store has about 50 cases and it is outstanding for the money.. The name of the store is: Good Earth, Good Health, Good Food, but it starts with good. Cortland runs between Mission and Bayshore Blvd. The business district is only about 5 blocks and the store is the only major grocery outlet on Cortland.

You could spend more than $20+ for the same quality. The color is dark ruby, the nose has berries and white pepper and the finish is long and smooth. I am going back soon and getting at least a box. When was the last time you could buy quality Syrah for well under $10????? With 14.8% alcohol it is still well balanced and not at all hot when drunk. I think this is a great summer BBQ wine with any form of meat on the grill.
In my opinion, this wine still has some years to go before it losses the vibrant fruit which makes it so much fun to drink....
