Two Valentine Sparkling Wines – Top Bargain Wines of the Week – Feb 13
This is one of the better inexpensive Zinfandel wines I have tasted in some time. It comes from Amador County in the Sierra Foothills. This area has some of the oldest and finest Zinfandel vines in California. Continue reading →
Mud House Pinot Noir – Bargain Wine Alert 11
Once I heard this from Bruce, I had to give the Pinot a try. I was heading down to Palo Alto so a stop at the Redwood City K&L Wines was an easy call. We tried the Pinot Noir last night, and it is as good at Bruce states. It could easily pass for a $30 Pinot. It has a little mocha character that adds a little extra to the red berry flavors of this wine. Continue reading →

Buehler Vineyards – Two red wines top our bargain wine picks of the week.
John Buehler, Jr. and his family are committed to producing excellent wines but keeping prices affordable. Because they have been in the Napa Valley so long, the cost of their operations is not as high as most wineries. Kudos to Buehler Vineyards for keeping their wine prices in check. These two wines could easily sell for more. Continue reading →
Tramin Pinot Grigio from Alto Adige – Bargain Wine of the Week
This wine has been very popular and highly rated over the past few years and it is well deserved. There is a good amount of this wine available at various stores but Costco in Redwood City seems to have the best deal at $9.99. At BevMo it is $11.99, at Wine.com it is $12.99. Continue reading →

C. Donatiello Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – Top Bargain Picks of the Week
This is fun wine, very dry, with the refreshing taste of apple and some yeast. I think the fun part about this wine is the fact that the wine is made in New Mexico. It stands up to my favorite sparklers made in California. It makes for a good conversation piece when your guest tells you it is delicious and then asks where it is from. Continue reading →
Chiroulet Cote D’Heux White Wine – 100% Gros Manseng – huh?
This wine comes from the Chiroulet Winery, which is located in a commune by the name of Condom located in southwestern France. It is made from 100% of the Gros Manseng grape, the main white grape of this area. The wine was fermented and aged in wood and thus has a gentle oak aroma and a very nice feel in the mouth. The characteristics of this wine are far different from any white wines we have tasted. Give it a try; we think you will enjoy this wine. If you drink this wine by itself you may not enjoy it as much, because it really is a food wine and matches perfectly with seafood and poultry. Continue reading →

Pinot Noir Wines top our bargain selections of the week – October 31
I chilled it for about 1 hour and then decanted it and let it set for about an hour. Pinot Noir wines taste better slightly chilled. It took a while even in the glass to open up but once it did it was very good. It has flavors of cherries and good texture in the mouth. The Wine Enthusiast gives it a 91 and a $23 price point. I like but not as much as the Calera I reviewed last week, but the price point is better at $12.99 vs $19.99. I give it an 88 point rating. Continue reading →

This hearty Italian red wine made from the Aglianico (ahl ya nee ko) grape is a very good value for an everyday wine that’s medium body and fruity. It would easily complement red meats, barbecues and pizza. At this price, it’s a bargain and TJ’s featured wine. Continue reading →
